Plame Appeal Denied -Cheney skates....
Tue Aug 12, 2008 at 09:49:08 AM PDT
This is going to be a short diary. The D.C. Appeals Court has again denied Valerie Plame's lawsuit against Cheney and the White House.
Corrected - removed statement, "I guess we shouldn't be surprised, given that Bush appointed most on the court."

Is the Father Pfleger flap a setup? Smells like it......
Fri May 30, 2008 at 08:57:11 PM PDT
I don't know, maybe it's the chemo, but this whole Father Pfleger brouhaha smells awfully bad to me. Think about his. Knowing the problems caused by Rev. Wright flap, why would anyone publicly say the things Father Pfleger said? He had to know the problems it would cause.
Perhaps he saw all the attention Rev. Wright got, and wanted some of that attention. Either that, or he has incredibly bad judgment, or .....perhaps he's a mole. Whatever he is, he is no friend of Obama.
All the news programs are running the same film of the Father going crazy on the podium. You know what I think?

The Endemic Corruption Of The United States Government
Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 07:26:54 AM PDT
As an old "Mexico hand", I used to tell people who complained about the rampant corruption south of the border, that there was/is little difference between Mexico and the U.S. on this issue. The difference, if any, is simply measured by how much it costs to make the corruption happen. Things are less expensive, generally speaking, in Mexico, but it is no more corrupt than the U.S.
The fact is, corruption in the U.S. is as much if not more endemic than in Mexico, but it is certainly more sophisticated. It's costing the taxpayers of this nation TRILLIONS of dollars, in addition to turning our nation's politics into a fascist embracing-neocon infested-corporatist nest of evil. Follow me as I present some proof....
AP's Nedra Pickler Sliming Obama Again!
Sun Feb 24, 2008 at 06:46:02 AM PDT
Well, here we are, Day Two after the full Swiftboat-style campaign has been fired up against Barack Obama. It started yesterday with an article written by the notoriously biased, Nedra Pickler (article here: http://news.yahoo.com/... ), entitled, "Obama may face grilling on patriotism". Then this morning, Pickler follows up with yet another, again carrying "Swiftboat" water, entitled, "Conservatives say Obama lacks patriotism. While today's article contains some re-hash from yesterday's hit piece, much is new.

"Obama may face grilling on patriotism" - AP News
Sat Feb 23, 2008 at 09:58:04 AM PDT
AP News Service is once again showing its Republican leanings, by publishing a full spectrum of garbage this morning. First off, is an article written by the notoriously corrupt Nedra Pickler, entitled, "Obama may face grilling on patriotism". This piece of journalistic garbage could easily have been written by almost anyone at the RNC, and perhaps it was...

It's Time – Long-Time Member GBCW – An Old Democrat
Thu Jan 24, 2008 at 11:01:53 AM PDT
I've vacillated over writing this diary for months, but can finally no longer justify my continuing participation at D-Kos after today.
Between the roiling candidate diaries, the general ignorance concerning our Constitution, the nasty gang attacks on most anyone who has "less than nice" things to say about "certain country" and some of its fascistic right-wing neocon supporters, here and elsewhere, but most importantly, the complete and abject failure to understand and prioritize actions this nation and our political system desperately need, I've reached my limits of tolerance.
After the break, I shall explain further....
Media, Congress, Colluding Again On Iraq Lies Report
Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 09:26:17 AM PDT
With the release of the new report by the The Center for Public Integrity (CPI) on the 900+ lies used by the Bush junta to foment Iraq war-fever and invasion justifications (link: http://www.nytimes.com/... ), one would think it would be "front-page" news at every MSM outlet in the nation, ....but it's not.
One would also think that there would have been calls this morning by Democratic leaders for hearings, investigations, and impeachment proceedings, ....but there's not.

Reiterates that President Bush Needs Congressional Authorization Before Attacking Iran

WARNING: Bush Arming Allies For More War (Iran?) In Mid-East
Sat Jul 28, 2007 at 08:46:37 AM PDT
NOTE: It appears I wasn't the only one alarmed by this news, as both "jimstaro" and "Zwoof" also just put diaries up discussing this as well. If you feel this diary doesn't add anything new, I'll delete it.
This will be a short Saturday morning diary, but I wanted to bring to your urgent attention some things Bush/Dick are planning. It appears they are about to ship billions of dollars more in weapons and "aid" to the highly volatile Mid-East region.
The headline on the McClatchy article (link to follow) I sourced, is:
U.S. to sell advanced weapons to Saudi Arabia and others

Secret Service to Hire 103 New Agents To Protect Bush
Wed Jul 04, 2007 at 11:18:06 AM PDT
If this doesn't fall into the "I am not surprised" category, then nothing does.........
The Secret Service, charged with protecting presidents and their families, ex-presidents and their families, as well as candidates running for the office and their families, are also responsible for other areas of our nation's security, like anti-counterfeiting efforts.
The Secret Service is now a part of the Department of Homeland Security, so its departmental efforts have been linked to all of the other agencies under the DHS umbrella.

Are Congressional Democrats Under Threat Of Violence?
Wed Jun 20, 2007 at 07:32:35 AM PDT
As an "old Democrat", and long-time political observer, I cannot remember a time over the last 50 years or so, when I've seen a Democratic majority so, ....um, neutered. Why?
Like many of you, I am asking "why" a lot these days. Why does this Congress, with its Democratic leaders, refuse to put impeachment on the table? Why is this Congress refusing to indict, prosecute, and impeach Alberto Gonzales for his many crimes? Why does this Congress seem to be giving Dick Cheney a pass, while he continues to stir up still more war, death, and destruction, this time focusing on Iran?
More questions, and some suggested answers, after the fold... Follow along, won't you? Perhaps together, we can come up with some answers.
UPDATED-AP Again Shows Overwhelming Anti-Democrat Bias
Thu Jun 14, 2007 at 11:19:53 AM PDT
Comes another miserable excuse of a so-called "news report" from AP "reporter" (and I use the term very loosely) Jim Abrams.
This right-wing/Republican propaganda shill has written one negative report after another about Democrats (especially focusing on Sen. Harry Reid for some reason), that are so filled with thinly vieled accusations and negative propaganda, as to qualify for RNC hit pieces.

Alert: New Right-Wing Television Network, "ANN", arrives (with poll!)
Thu Apr 05, 2007 at 02:20:34 PM PDT
Excuse me, but all these years I have been under the impression that the American people own the airwaves that radio and television networks broadcast their programs on. If this is indeed the case, then how in the hell have our airwaves been nearly completely taken over by right-wing neocon fascists and Christian wackos (John Hagee anyone?) intent on broadcasting their propaganda 24 hours a day?
Now there is a "new" television news network, called "American News Network" (ANN), broadcasting into American living-rooms, and if you think FOX News is bad, wait until you see this bunch! More after the fold:

Thu Mar 29, 2007 at 04:27:20 PM PDT
Yes, I am sure the very thought expressed in my headline was going through the minds of many in the media and the Bush administration last night, at the White house Correspondent's Dinner.
As the porcine Kkkarl Rove did his racist rap shtick, NBC's David Gregory was aiding and abetting the scene of the crime. Link: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/...

GOP Hypocrite(s) "Award Of The Day" (Hagel & Specter)
Sun Mar 25, 2007 at 08:48:32 AM PDT
Today, Sen. Chuck Hagel is quoted as saying the following:
.....Gonzales "does have a credibility problem. ...We govern with one currency, and that's trust. And that trust is all important. And when you lose or debase that currency, then you can't govern. And I think he's going to have some difficulties."
Ok. Fine. Now, let's talk about the "credibility problem" and lack of "currency" of the Bush regime as a whole, particularly over the Iraq War.
Oh, and then there's the little matters of Katrina, Walter Reed, Abu Ghraib, Abramoff, Enron, and on, and on, and on, ad nauseam.
Fact is, the Congress, and the people of this nation, have been lied to time and time again, throughout the entire Bush tenure. What about their cred eh?

Breaking: House Approves Subpoenas!
Wed Mar 21, 2007 at 07:58:34 AM PDT
The House approved subpoenas for Rove, and others. Will update with particulars in a few minutes.
A House panel on Wednesday approved subpoenas for
President Bush's political adviser, Karl Rove and other top White House aides, setting up a constitutional showdown over the firings of eight federal prosecutors.
Yahoo! Are we finally going to see our Democrats give Bush a needed slap? Now, if only impeachment could be put on the table, quickly, I would be one happy old Democrat!
Mandate-Shmandate! - Everyone Is STILL Missing The !@#$! Ball!
Fri Mar 16, 2007 at 08:56:37 AM PDT
I love it that the Dems came out on top in 06'. I am elated that scandal after scandal is starting to finally envelope the Bush regime. I'm just tickled that people like Abu "Goonzales" may finally get their due. I'm delighted that Scooter Libby was finally brought to justice. I'm happy that some votes on the Iraq mess are finally coming up (despite their apparent worthlessness). I am overjoyed that it looks like Herr Rove may finally get his chain yanked over the "Prosecutor Scandal".
Hell, like an emaciated and starving dog, I'm happy with anything, even the tiny morsels of partially formed gristle and bone being thrown to us "reality voters". But you know what?, ....none of it means shit. None. Of. It.
Find out why, after the fold....
